Coast phases: Pomodoro, in orbital mechanics
How long missions split into burns and short breaks, and why the rhythm helps.
Long, unbroken focus sounds heroic. In practice, attention frays. The fix isn't white-knuckling. It's rhythm.
Burns and coasts
On longer missions, Orbital Focus splits your flight into burn segments with short coast phases between them. You focus hard during a burn, then coast briefly: step away, stretch, breathe, before the next burn fires.
Same structure as Pomodoro. Different costume. It feels like part of the mission instead of an interruption.
Make it yours
Coast length and frequency are configurable. Want a 20-second breather? A full two-minute reset? Tune it in Settings until the cadence matches how you actually work.
Why it works
Short, scheduled breaks keep your peak focus available longer. Instead of one long session that degrades, you get several sharp ones, and you still arrive at your destination with attention to spare.
