Attention Span Test

Try a short sustained-response task, then review your misses, false alarms, and response consistency. The result describes one run and is not a diagnosis.

Sustained response task

Respond to every digit except 3

1, 2, 4 to 9Press Space or Respond3Do not respond
  1. Place one finger on the Space bar, or use the Respond button on touch devices.
  2. Respond once when any digit except 3 appears.
  3. Withhold your response when the digit is 3. The task lasts 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Choose a quiet moment. Switching tabs stops the run because hidden-tab timing would make the result misleading.

This visual, timed task does not provide an equivalent screen-reader measurement.

What this task measures

This is a browser go/no-go task. You make frequent responses to ordinary digits and withhold the response when 3 appears. The result reports correct responses, misses, false alarms, median response time, and consistency across one 2.5-minute run. Those measurements can show that your performance changed during this task today.

What the score does not mean

The on-task score is not a clinical attention-span test, diagnosis, IQ score, age norm, or comparison with other people. It has no validated cutoff for ADHD, anxiety, sleep loss, or any medical condition. A keyboard, touch screen, display lag, unfamiliar instructions, noise, caffeine, sleep, pain, and simple luck can all move the result.

Use repeated runs only as a personal observation under similar conditions. A lower score is not proof that your attention span is damaged, and a high score does not rule out a real difficulty. If attention problems interfere with school, work, driving, safety, or daily life, discuss them with a qualified health professional instead of relying on this page.

How to get a cleaner personal comparison

This is a visual timed task. Screen-reader timing does not provide an equivalent measurement, so the page does not claim that an audio-assisted run is comparable.
